A PNG is an excellent source for EPS

PNG files are lossless, so edges are not smeared by compression noise. That makes them a good starting point for a vector EPS. When a vendor asks for an EPS of your logo and all you have is a PNG, the conversion needs to rebuild the shapes. Vetorly does this with AI that creates real geometric shapes and smooth Bézier curves with few nodes, with each color as its own editable shape.

Transparency and EPS

PNG can store a transparent background. EPS is a PostScript-based format and does not handle modern transparency the way PNG does. For flat artwork, this rarely causes trouble: the EPS holds only the shapes, and the empty space around them is simply empty. The thing to watch is any solid background in the PNG, which would become a shape. Delete it in your editor if you want the artwork alone. Semi-transparent effects such as soft shadows do not translate well to EPS, so remove them first.

Prepare your PNG

  • Use the largest version of the file.
  • Flatten effects such as glows, bevels and shadows before uploading.
  • Check that edges are not fringed with leftover color from an old background.
  • Keep colors cleanly separated.

After downloading

  1. Open the EPS in a vector editor that supports it and zoom in on curves.
  2. Select each color to verify it is a separate object.
  3. Delete any unwanted background shape.
  4. Check the document size and resize to the final dimensions your printer needs.
  5. Convert colors to CMYK or specified spot colors if the printer asks for it.

Preview issues to expect

Some operating systems and browsers cannot preview EPS files, so a blank thumbnail does not mean the file is broken. Open it in design software to check. If you only need the file for the web, SVG is a better choice, and your credit includes that too.

More on formats

For a broader introduction see convert to EPS. If your source is a JPG, go to JPG to EPS. To understand where EPS sits against other formats, read SVG vs EPS vs PDF vs DXF. One credit gives you EPS, SVG, PDF, DXF and PNG.

How it works

Three steps. Nothing to install.

  1. 1

    Upload

Drop, paste or pick any image: logo, drawing, icon, illustration or AI art.

Quality

Vectors that look hand-made.

No jagged outlines, no thousands of nodes. The AI understands the drawing and rebuilds every shape properly.

Real shapes

Circles become circles, rectangles stay rectangles. Straight lines stay straight, corners stay sharp.

Few nodes, smooth curves

Bézier curves with the fewest points possible. Light files that are easy to edit.

No gaps between colors

Neighbouring shapes fit perfectly — no white hairlines when you print.

Fine detail

Sub-pixel precision that keeps small text, sharp tips and transparency.

Who it's for

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does EPS keep the transparent background from my PNG?

EPS stores shapes, so empty areas stay empty. Any solid background in the PNG becomes a shape that you can delete in a vector editor.

Why can I not see a preview of my EPS file?

Many systems do not preview EPS. Open it in vector design software to check it.

Is the EPS editable?

Yes. Each color is a separate editable shape with smooth curves and few nodes.

Can I download SVG with the same purchase?

Yes. One credit covers every format: SVG, PDF, EPS, DXF and PNG.

Is the preview really free?

Yes. Upload and see the result for free. You only pay to download the clean file.

Which formats do I get?

SVG, PDF, EPS, DXF and high-res PNG. One credit unlocks every format of that image.

Does it work in Illustrator and CorelDRAW?

Yes. Open the SVG, EPS or PDF. Inkscape and Affinity work too.

Cricut, Silhouette and cutting plotters?

Yes. Use the SVG (or DXF in Silhouette Studio). Shapes come separated by color.

Laser and CNC?

Yes. Download DXF or SVG for LightBurn, Glowforge, RDWorks and CNC software.

Which images work best?

Logos, icons, illustrations, drawings and art with clear shapes. Photos work too, with a more artistic look.
