Not every PDF is a vector PDF

PDF is a container. It can hold text, vector shapes, photos, or all of these. If you simply save a PNG as a PDF, the picture inside is still made of pixels, and it will look soft when enlarged. A vector PDF contains shapes and curves instead. Vetorly converts your PNG into real geometric shapes with smooth Bézier curves and few nodes, with each color as an editable shape, and delivers the result as a PDF among other formats.

How to tell if a PDF is vector

  1. Open it in a PDF viewer and zoom in to a very high level on an edge. Vector edges stay sharp.
  2. Open it in a vector editor. If you can select individual shapes, it is vector. If you see one rectangular image, it is raster.

When a vector PDF is the right choice

  • Sending artwork to a print shop that accepts PDF.
  • Sharing a logo with a client who just needs to view or print it.
  • Placing artwork into layout software without quality loss.
  • Archiving a clean master of flat artwork.

Prepare the PNG

Flat-color artwork gives the best results: logos, icons, line art and badges. Use the largest PNG you have. Remove glows and soft shadows if you want crisp shapes. Photos will turn into posterized flat-color shapes, so if you need a photo in a PDF, keep it as a raster image.

Checks after you download

  1. Zoom in on curves and corners.
  2. Check that there is no unwanted background rectangle. If there is, remove it in a vector editor and export again.
  3. Confirm the page size. Some PDFs open at the artwork's bounding box, others on a standard page. Set the final size your printer wants.
  4. Ask your printer about color mode, bleed and crop marks. Those are set up in layout software, not by the conversion.

PDF versus other formats

PDF is excellent for viewing and print handoff. For web use, SVG is lighter and scales in browsers. For some older print workflows, EPS is still requested. For CAD and cutting, DXF is common. Your credit includes all of them. Learn more in SVG vs EPS vs PDF vs DXF, or go straight to PNG to SVG and PNG to EPS for those routes.

Quality

Vectors that look hand-made.

No jagged outlines, no thousands of nodes. The AI understands the drawing and rebuilds every shape properly.

Real shapes

Circles become circles, rectangles stay rectangles. Straight lines stay straight, corners stay sharp.

Few nodes, smooth curves

Bézier curves with the fewest points possible. Light files that are easy to edit.

No gaps between colors

Neighbouring shapes fit perfectly — no white hairlines when you print.

Fine detail

Sub-pixel precision that keeps small text, sharp tips and transparency.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is a PDF made from a PNG automatically vector?

No. Saving a PNG as a PDF just places the pixels inside the PDF. A vector PDF requires the image to be rebuilt as shapes and curves.

How can I check that my PDF is vector?

Zoom in far on an edge, or open it in a vector editor and see whether you can select individual shapes.

Can I keep photos as photos in a PDF?

Yes, in your layout software. Vectorizing is best for flat artwork, since photos become posterized shapes.

Do I get other formats too?

Yes. One credit gives you PDF, SVG, EPS, DXF and high-res PNG.

Is the preview really free?

Yes. Upload and see the result for free. You only pay to download the clean file.

Which formats do I get?

SVG, PDF, EPS, DXF and high-res PNG. One credit unlocks every format of that image.

Does it work in Illustrator and CorelDRAW?

Yes. Open the SVG, EPS or PDF. Inkscape and Affinity work too.

Cricut, Silhouette and cutting plotters?

Yes. Use the SVG (or DXF in Silhouette Studio). Shapes come separated by color.

Laser and CNC?

Yes. Download DXF or SVG for LightBurn, Glowforge, RDWorks and CNC software.

Which images work best?

Logos, icons, illustrations, drawings and art with clear shapes. Photos work too, with a more artistic look.
