Signs magnify every flaw
A logo that looks fine on a phone becomes a very different thing on a six-foot banner or a storefront window. Pixels turn to blocks, and wobbly edges become obvious. Sign shops therefore work from vectors. Vetorly converts a PNG or JPG into shapes with smooth Bézier curves and few nodes, with each color as a separate editable shape, which is exactly the structure plotters and sign software like to work with.
Match the file to the job
- Vinyl lettering and graphics: the plotter follows vector outlines, so closed, clean paths matter. Separate colors map to separate vinyl sheets.
- Channel letters and routed signs: fabrication usually needs accurate outlines, often as DXF for CNC or CAD tools.
- Printed banners and wraps: PDF or EPS is common, set up at final size or scaled proportionally.
One credit covers SVG, PDF, EPS, DXF and PNG, so the same purchase can support several stages.
Prepare the artwork
- Obtain the largest logo file the customer has. Ask for the original vector first, since converting should be a fallback.
- Use a flat version without shadows, gradients or textures.
- Decide the final dimensions early, because minimum stroke widths depend on size and material.
What to check before cutting
- Corner sharpness: square corners should be crisp, which matters on large lettering.
- Curve smoothness: look for flat spots in circles and bowls of letters.
- Weeding: very thin connections and tiny islands are difficult to weed on vinyl. Thicken or remove them.
- Overlaps: where shapes overlap, decide whether to weld them or leave an intentional overlay for layered vinyl.
- Letter spacing: text is converted to outlines, so check that spacing still looks right at final size.
Scaling and tiling
Vectors scale without loss, but large signs may need to be split into panels for plotting or transport. Do this in your sign software. Add registration or alignment marks so panels line up on the wall.

Quality
Vectors that look hand-made.
No jagged outlines, no thousands of nodes. The AI understands the drawing and rebuilds every shape properly.
Real shapes
Circles become circles, rectangles stay rectangles. Straight lines stay straight, corners stay sharp.
Few nodes, smooth curves
Bézier curves with the fewest points possible. Light files that are easy to edit.
No gaps between colors
Neighbouring shapes fit perfectly — no white hairlines when you print.
Fine detail
Sub-pixel precision that keeps small text, sharp tips and transparency.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Which format do vinyl plotters use?
It depends on the sign software. SVG, EPS, PDF and DXF are commonly accepted, and one credit gives you all of them.
Can I make large signs from a small logo file?
A vector scales without quality loss, but the conversion quality still depends on the source. Use the biggest, cleanest file you can get.
Are letters in the converted file editable as text?
No. Text becomes outline shapes. To change wording, retype it in your sign software.
Does each color come as a separate shape?
Yes, which is handy for assigning each color to its own vinyl sheet.
Is the preview really free?
Yes. Upload and see the result for free. You only pay to download the clean file.
Which formats do I get?
SVG, PDF, EPS, DXF and high-res PNG. One credit unlocks every format of that image.
Does it work in Illustrator and CorelDRAW?
Yes. Open the SVG, EPS or PDF. Inkscape and Affinity work too.
Cricut, Silhouette and cutting plotters?
Yes. Use the SVG (or DXF in Silhouette Studio). Shapes come separated by color.
Laser and CNC?
Yes. Download DXF or SVG for LightBurn, Glowforge, RDWorks and CNC software.
Which images work best?
Logos, icons, illustrations, drawings and art with clear shapes. Photos work too, with a more artistic look.
