Icons are the best case for vectorizing
Icons are small, simple and used at many sizes, which is exactly what vectors are for. A raster icon looks fine at 64 pixels and soft at 256. An SVG icon stays crisp from a browser tab to a large display. Vetorly rebuilds your icon with real geometric shapes and smooth Bézier curves using few nodes, with each color as a separate editable shape. Few nodes matter for icons, because they keep file size small and shapes easy to adjust.
Choose a good source
The largest version of the icon is best. If all you have is a tiny 32-pixel file, the AI can still produce tidy shapes from a simple glyph, but fine detail will be limited. Single-color glyph icons convert more cleanly than icons with gradients or inner shadows.
Prepare the image
- Use a solid or transparent background.
- Flatten effects such as bevels, glows and long shadows.
- Keep the icon centered with even margins so it fits a square canvas.
- Limit the palette. Each color becomes its own shape.
Checks for icon quality
- Zoom in to confirm that circles are round and straight edges are straight.
- Check stroke consistency. Strokes of the same weight in the original should still look equal.
- Test the icon small. Shrink it to the smallest size you will use and make sure it is still readable.
- Check alignment. Icons often need to sit on a pixel grid at small sizes, which you can adjust in your editor.
- Remove stray specks and background shapes.
Preparing for use
For websites and apps, use the SVG and consider optimizing it with your build tools. For a single-color icon you want to recolor with code, make sure there is only one fill shape, or merge shapes in your editor. For print use, PDF or EPS may be more convenient. If you need an icon set, keep a consistent size, line weight and corner style across the pieces before converting.

Quality
Vectors that look hand-made.
No jagged outlines, no thousands of nodes. The AI understands the drawing and rebuilds every shape properly.
Real shapes
Circles become circles, rectangles stay rectangles. Straight lines stay straight, corners stay sharp.
Few nodes, smooth curves
Bézier curves with the fewest points possible. Light files that are easy to edit.
No gaps between colors
Neighbouring shapes fit perfectly — no white hairlines when you print.
Fine detail
Sub-pixel precision that keeps small text, sharp tips and transparency.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can I vectorize a very small icon?
Yes, but detail is limited by the pixels available. Simple glyphs work best from a small file, and a larger source always gives better edges.
Can I recolor the SVG icon with code?
A single fill shape is easiest to recolor. Merge shapes in a vector editor if your icon has several parts that should share one color.
Do gradients in an icon convert?
Gradients become flat bands of color. Flat or single-color icons give the cleanest vectors.
Which formats do I get?
One credit gives you SVG, PDF, EPS, DXF and high-res PNG.
Is the preview really free?
Yes. Upload and see the result for free. You only pay to download the clean file.
Which formats do I get?
SVG, PDF, EPS, DXF and high-res PNG. One credit unlocks every format of that image.
Does it work in Illustrator and CorelDRAW?
Yes. Open the SVG, EPS or PDF. Inkscape and Affinity work too.
Cricut, Silhouette and cutting plotters?
Yes. Use the SVG (or DXF in Silhouette Studio). Shapes come separated by color.
Laser and CNC?
Yes. Download DXF or SVG for LightBurn, Glowforge, RDWorks and CNC software.
Which images work best?
Logos, icons, illustrations, drawings and art with clear shapes. Photos work too, with a more artistic look.
